Southend and Benfleet Ladies 2s played Southend 2s at home on Saturday. From the start the opposition put constant pressure on the home sided which consisted of 7 new players. S&B defence, Claire Sutton, Michelle Arnold, Lucy Stowe and Emily Richardson worked tirelessly to keep the opposition out and managed to keep them at bay up to half time. Goalkeeper and man of the match Fran Bates played brilliantly and stopped untold amount of goals crossing the line. S&B managed to break a number of times and were awarded several penalty corners but were unable to score. Midfielders Chelsea Parker and Lou Marsack battled well but Southend eventually managed to score 10 minutes before the final whistle, leaving the score 1-0 Southend 2.
